Walnut Creek Art Show
Just debuted some new items at the Walnut Creek, California Art Show. Even in a horrific heat spell, managed to sell quite well. I think it helped to have a shady spot. Everything I brought to the show was colorful, had whimsey and was handmade. Working with clay leads to exploration, creativity and using problem solving skills to execute a new idea. A kiln opening can be a nightmare or the best possible gift as all clay artist know all to well. I am posting some pictures of my new creations. Hope you enjoy them.

Fall Shows
Only 2 shows scheduled so far, Walnut Creek 9/24-26 and San Carlos 10/9-10. Might be able to do one more before I leave for China in November. I have some new items for these shows. They are small plates that have texture all over and can be used for coins, trinkets, or just put a truffle on it and give it as a present. Very colorful and each one is different. Also have an idea that I will start working on for next year. Working with clay is just so inspirational. Ideas sometimes just flow.

Reno dog show
Going to Reno for a big dog show that is held in McKinley Park. It's supposed to be hot and I just hope people show up. I will have all my dog related items - birdhouses, plates, garden stakes, etc. I am so happy to know my booth #50 will be under a tree and that I have a battery operated fan to bring with me. Every artist who does outdoor shows should have one.

Flower Power
Just started making a new item. Clay flowers that bloom all year round. They are about 7" in diameter, very colorful and are attached to a rod that enables them to be put in the ground at any height. I don't think the pictures do them justice, but I will take more when the rest are completed.
I was inspired by a video on the ceramics daily website. An artist showed how she made the flowers using a wheel throwing method. Since I don't throw, I adapted her method to slab rolling. Took some tweaking to do it, but now I just love the way they come out.

Creating
Hard at work creating new lines. I guess the nice weather, art shows and selling has been the inspiration. Should have some new birdhouses, including hummingbird feeders coming out of the kiln on Tuesday. Thought of a new type of bird feeder to create, so I will be designing it today. Made a great ceramic flower that is on a metal stake. First one I made and I liked it so much it is now in the garden.

New Pictures
Just posted some pictures of the new items we have been working on. They are full of whimsey and are selling well, which is the best feedback for an artist.
Hello Again
Can't believe I haven't blogged in so long. Got so inspired by traveling, visiting art galleries, that new product has been added. Nothing is more satisfying than imagining and then executing a new item. So much fun using new tools and experimenting with clay. The spring shows have started. Already did Menlo Park and Walnut Creek. This weekend is Mt. View. New area for us. Have a dog show lined up in July located in Reno.
